My Indesit WIDL126 was on a constant wash cycle and would not step over to rinse. I’ve found that this can be due to a faulty wash heater as the water needs to reach the right temperature to step over. When I took the back off I’ve found that one of the connectors has melted and the blue insulator on the heater appears to have bubbled. The element is testing 30 ohms so it’s not burnt out. Can I just replace the bladed female connector or will this just burn out again? Could a faulty wash element melt the connector or has induced heat caused the problem. The washer is getting on a bit, but a heater and connector should only be a £20 fix. I don’t want to buy replacement parts if it could be something else? All help greatly appreciated.

Provided you can clean up the terminal and replace the spade connector to remake a good contact it should be OK. However, ideally replacing the heater as well as the spade connector a far better fix! 😀

Thanks Martin. There’s plenty of cable to fit a new connector and only one side of the male terminal is used so I’ve a good point of contact. I might just order a new heater, just in case, but short term re-terminate and see how it holds up until the new element arrives.
