ParticipantHi,
I have an indesit washer dryer which the drum bearing has started moaning loudly. Its seems to be the inner drum bearing. My question is what is the sequence for removal?
I could:
remove the belt
undo the main bearing nut
remove the spider from the outer drum from the back. A bit fidely but possible.
replace bearingThe thing is… is this possible? Other than that it looks like a complete drum out the front and remove the spider etc.
Also how do you remove the top/front panels. Are the screws hidden behind the bottom fron panel I haven’t looked yet.
thanks
paul

Oh, you are going to love this job? 😥
The drum bearing spigot has to be removed from the outer drum in order to extract the 2 bearing and water seal. The Torz-headed bolts holding the spigot in place very tricky to remove and likely to draw blood (Have a first aid kit and nurse on standby 😉 )

No you can’t get at the drum assembly or take it apart. You can only remove the drum bearing spigot! 🙁

Front panel doesn’t come away seperately (its a 3-sided welded cabinet). The top panel easily removes with taking the screws off the back then sliding the lid backwards and off!
Now for the bad news……Changing the bearing kit on one of these heaps of junk is not to be recommended as likely as not the actual drum shaft is damaged and acted primarily as the reason the bearings failed in the first place? At best the shaft and shaft collar need careful inspection and cleaning before reassembly. Liberally greasing with high speed grease in doing so. In my experience, and taking all possible precautions during the bearing change process, the new bearings will fail again in a matter of months!…. :rolls:
Just my experience that is, but there you have it. 😉 😉

I think you might be right. I’ll bin the machine and buy a decent one!
