    Hi,
I have a fault with my Indesit Washer Dryer. If I close the door and start a cycle, the door locks, but the cycle doesn’t start. After a few minutes the message “door” is displayed. I tried changing the door lock, same result. I tested the cable from the door lock down the control board, tests ok. Anything else I can try? Time for a new machine?
    Cheers,
    Wolfie

The first thing to check is the motor brushes, motor wiring plug and connections . All with the mains plug removed of course.

Brilliant advice. I checked the cables around the motor all fine, but my hands ere covered with carbon. I checked the brush and it was very worn. It is in a fixed housing, but spring loaded, but was very worn. I adjusted the fixings to push it closer to the motor and on restarting the machine it burst into life. Why the error message was “door” is one of lifes mysteries. I will order a new brush.
This is a heavily used machine, I have 3 kids.
You have saved me the cost of a new machine.
    Thanks again.
    Wolfie.

Make sure you order new ‘brushes’, don’t change just one. 😉

Also not wise to try and run it with a load after doing what you have done, can lead to serious arcing across the commutator which often leads to blown main circuit boards.
