ParticipantHello.
The above machine suddenly stopped full of water and washing. Investigation of a burnt electrical smell revealed that the electronic module had gone bang. I took advice and tested the pump with a multimeter and there is a resistance across the terminals. It is mechanically free as well, but there is no power getting to it from the module.
I ordered a new module on line (part number isC00263581) from Indesit . It cost £80 and took eight days to arrive (even though it showed as being in stock).
When I fitted the new module, all I got was the ‘delay timer’ and the ‘spin’ lights flashing at regular intervals. Also the door lock light flashes constantly (but fast). The door lock doesn’t!
According to my searches so far, it corresponds to a fault code ( 1 & 4) that has something to do with the ‘eprom’.
I refitted the old module, just to check, and it all worked as normal (including the door lock operating) except for the lack of pumping.
Have I been sold something that is going to need programming by an Indesit engineer? Surely they have to say so if that is the case?
I tried to get through to Indesit for advice/help today but kept being put on hold. I had to give up and go back to work after half an hour, thus my posting here.
Any advice appreciated.

The new module needs to be programmed to your machine. When you ordered did you confirm it was pre programmed?

As far as I’m aware Indesit don’t sell preprogrammed modules. You need to buy a card reader and program card to do it.

I did not. There is no advice on the Indesit site with reference to pre-programming, just a photo and the part number with a list of the models that the part fits.
How the hell is anyone supposed to know that?
Sounds like a con to me!
I may have to cite the ‘Distance selling regulations’ and demand a refund if the above is correct.July 23, 2013 at 6:28 am #398078Lonestar

Are those items readily available and affordable, and do they come with some instructions please?
Thanks

Can anyone please answer this question?
I need to know what to do, and how to approach Indesit.
Reading through their (extremely one-sided) terms and conditions, it doesn’t look like they will accept the part for return because I – 1.Opened the packaging. 2.Fitted the part to the machine.
Whatever the outcome of this, I will never, ever buy Indesit/Hotpoint/Creda etc again.
Cheaply made, overpriced, unreliable rubbish IMHO.
I’m especially angry about being sold an £80 part that won’t work without spending more money to make the thing work. That is ripping people off; plain and simple.
Does ANYONE apart from Miele (and not everything I’ve heard about them is all that good) make machines that are worth the money?
Sorry about the anger, but I am angry – – – –July 23, 2013 at 4:28 pm #398080Lonestar

Well, as no one has replied, here’s what happened.
Indesit have agreed that there should be some information against the module details on their website re- the programming issue.
I have had to order the smart card and reader, but they will refund me for the reader as long as I send it back (at my expense) after the one time I am going to need to use it.
Seems fair to me under the circumstances.Thank you all for the detailed information and assistance.
