Indesit WIL 168 -Door Lock flashing light problem

I have an Indesit WIL 163 which was working fine until …. the door lock started to flash all the time, the door is closed properly, but when I want to begin a wash it refuses to start. The power is on, the pipe isn’t flexed and there appears to be no reason for the problem.

I would appreciated any advice on what the possible cause is and how to rectify it please. Is there a replacement part required?

As I can open the door after I close it – I think that maybe … No, its not locked! :rolls:

So – possible lock failure? No lock = no start for obvious safety reasons! Can’t find a WIL168, BTW – is it a 163?

Door lock for 163 is p/no 1603292, about a tenner last time I looked. Contact spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for confirmed prices and ordering.

However……… Due to the extreme fragility of the electronics, you may be best served to get your local independent in to have a look at it. Door lock failure can blow the computer board, by the same token, board failure can lead to no supply to the door lock :conf: .

Power off, if you are going to investigate further.

Can also be caused by a faulty door latch mechanism, the pin of the door latch can work up slightly, preventing the latch from closing correctly. This will also give the flashing door lock problem. Had one just like this yesterday. 🙂
