ParticipantHi, I have a 2 year old INdesit WIL133 washing machine. One month ago it decided that it will wash all day and night and not move on to drain, rinse and spin. If I force it on manually it does all of this fine. But you have to manually change it 3 times which is impossible to live with. I’ve got a feeling it has stopped heating water as well. I ran it at 90oC with no clothes and couldn’t notice any heat. I noticed a lot of people calling this machine a pile of crap on these forums. I am gutted as a young struggling family and as the matching tumble drier and dishwasher I bought are also Indesit. I played with the plastic screws on the pressure switch. I don’t know if the selection knob for programmes is just a selector not a timer as well, I don’t know if the front circuit board may be faulty, or the bottom right back board which I assume is the controller – or if I need to sling the machine and buy another on ebay or try replacing the £10 pressure switchor what. Seems a shame and appauling for a 2 year old machine and I have enough debt problems as it is. Puts me off Indesit. Any help MUCH appreciated. Dan 07515 400362 😯

Participanterm, the heaters the most likely culprit
on the tub, below the main pulley
a simple test with a meter will confirm this, plug out of course!!
not sure it was a good idea to mess with the pressure switch though!

yes i thought that after i did it! really? the heater can cause all of that? so order a replacement one i guess…. not too expensive (it looks like a kettle element yes?)
i think i bought a meter not sure where it is and i have to be honest – i don’t know how to use one to test these things – any tips appreciated
thanks

just had a look – there are two wires and a small resistor looking thing with a nut that could be it? above lower puller round thing (below upper big one)
i also noticed that there is a kind of fizzy noise from the back with the machine plugged in but off on the front – put me off leaving it plugged in…?
i think i need to put a meter on those two wires and if it ‘beeps’ the element is ok and if not it is burnt out – am i right?
many thanks for all your help

Element is located at the bottom of the back of the drum and should give a reading of 25-30 ohms when split from the circuit. Do not stick your fingers in there with the power on……
With regard to quality, your choices are unfortunate – I’d have done without the dishwasher and spent rather more on the washer and dryer.
Good luck,

i just replaced the heater element in the indesit WIL1300 – it was a NIGHTMARE getting the old one out even after releasing the bolt nut – it was jammed hard and took a lot of jarring, pulling, bending and the metal that lips out over the rubber seal on the element had to be bent to get in there and force it out
in contrast the new one slipped in rather too easily – i bent the lips (well top one which was the only bit i could get to) back into the rubbed but on starting the maching water leaks out and it looked like from the bottom lip/rubber side
i can try to rebend again but looking like it may need a sealant and don’t really want to use e.g. araldite as will never get it out again and i doubt vaseline will do it!
HELP!!! IDEAS ? thanks

KeymasterPlease keep it to ONE thread only or it just gets messy and confusing.
Duplicate posts will not get you more answers or any faster answers.
Thanks.

It’s a story Dan, if the guys can see the whole story and not just bits of it dotted all over the site it’s a whole lot easier to follow.
One problem, one machine, one thread.
Multiple threads about the same machine or problem just confuse everyone by making it harder to follow the story and either I or the moderators will delete posts that have been copied and pasted into multiple threads.

do they go to it though if the header is a different problem? i guess it just shows another thread has been added? jsut that last time i added a new thread to it no one answered – and when i started a new one they answered straight away….?
