Indesit WIXL 126 Door lock light flashing, not much else

Hi all,

I wonder if someone can help.

We have recently moved house and the previous owner kindly (or not as we’ve since found out!) left her old washing machine behind.
We’ve managed 2 successful washes, but since we gave it a clean (detergent tray and just inside the panel) we’ve been unable to get it to work!
When i was about to put on an empty load to give it a rinse, i noticed there were no lights on at all, and no amount of button pressing would get it working!
After we changed the fuse and plugged into a different socket, we managed to get a flashing red door lock button, but again not much else!! So we unplugged and left it for about half hour. By chance, my husband switched it on again, and it looked a bit more normal, with some green lights on. So i put it on a test load and went out. When i returned, all seemed ok and looks like it went the whole cycle. But when i went to put a proper load on, it went back to the flashing red light again!!
Could really do without the expense of a washing machine right now (although i guess January is the best time to buy!)

Any ideas?

Could be motor brushes or faulty door lock, not the greatest machine on the market TBH.

Thanks, is there a quick fix for it? is it worth repairing or getting a new one?
I literally have no clothes!!

Motor brushes and door interlock are both reasonable cost repairs but it is not a machine that warrants any real expenditure. 🙁

Thanks i’ll look at investing in a new one then!
Have had to give in for now and use a launderette. Not been to one of these since my uni days!!
Feel free to pass on any suggestions.
