ParticipantHi Folks
Got a m/c thats got me scratching my head here so don’y know if anyone had this fault or point me in the right direction.
Switch m/c on comes on for couple of seconds and switches off – continue to leave for about 5 seconds comes back on for about 2 sec and off again – does this for about 3or for times with the off time getting longer then doesnt come on at all. – Door locks up but no door lock light on (changed door lock but makes no difference) – If you put on spin prog instead of wash prog the motor goes straight into spin for 2 secs before switching off again with no distribute speed.
Checked m/c – sent module to EMW and they cant find anything wrong with it – suspected might have been motor but been back today and refitted module and given motor a good once over checking brushes/connections and still cant put my finger on anything – even checked for open circuit on motor when m/c in 5 sec switch off but still seems ok – checked for broken/loose wiring but cant find anything – this has now got me puzzled.
Looks to me as if module fault as something seems to be breaking down and then remaking but EMW say not – only other thing I can see it can be is motor fault but a bit loath to change as it all seems to test out ok.
Any help or suggestions gratefully recieved from all you Indesit/Hotpoint specialists out there 🙂
Thanks
Mick

The instant spin would point to a motor tacho fault, I’ve had two recent ones with the tacho wiring broken at the tacho end, one was obvious, the other needed a tug.
Also the motor plug connectors are terrible on these, if I can I always fit a better motor plug.

Thanks for the reply Jim
– Did think about tacho/ motor plugs etc so did all the tugging and pulling, even tho they are fitting the tacho wirng into a clip on the brush holder now to stop the tacho wires breaking like before – but they all seemed ok – did try m/c on just a fill program to try and eliminate motor loading but is just doing the same with just the valve on. I know that the module circuits go thru motor so still could be the problem but thought I would have seen something.
Is there another connector that fits the motor block (eg. the old purple one?) that you can fit then? and have you had bad connections on these then?
Thanks
Mick

I have some of the old purple blocks and one or two others that I have saved from motor kits over the years. I have even used the two plug connector link supplied with Hoover/Candy motors a while back, filed down the lugs and butt connected to harness.
The connections inside the current Indesit/Hotpoint motor plugs are so tiny its a wonder they make any contact at all. 😥

Thanks Jim
Will pop back and try that monday if nobody else comes up with anything – just finding it a puzzler and the on/off timing seems to consitant for a bad connection – altho possible bad term block connection could be the spin prob – just looks like suck it and see 🙂
Thanks
Mick

Hi folks – just an update for what it is worth.
Went back and changed motor plug (can see what you mean about the connections Jim) – thought I had fixed it as m/c stopped on longer than before but then statrted this cycling on/off again.
Did connect a new pump on out of desperation – again thought I had cracked it because the m/c worked ok for about a minute before the cycling kicked in again.
Still think this might be a module fault – especially as managed to ween out of customer that all the top lights occasionally flashed at the begining of the cycle and they had to switch off/on at the plug to get the m/c to start. Cust thought only top lights flashing and none of verticals were flashing but not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. But nothing flashing now.
Possible Pressure switch fault but new type of pressure switch with crappy connections – did pinch them but no replacement on my van – or bad module connection if they are as good as the motor connector blocks (no edge connectors on this module).
Cust not prepaired to spend any more money on m/c so it’s off the the great big indesit dump in the sky for this m/c now.
Thanks for the help and suggestions tho Jim.
Mick
