The door lock on our machine had recently become a bit temperemental amd it needed a firmer push to engage.

Today it has stopped locking at all and machine will not run.

I have removed the drum seal and extracted the door lock mechanism
    (labelled METAFLEX ZV-446)

If I buy and replace the door lock is it likely to solve the problem or could there be other expensive failures that have caused this problem.

Really fed up with washing machines-they just don’t last for long any more. Built to fail??

    Cheers

Replacing the door looks like the better option then your guaranteed for all the problems you’ve just experience to disappear doesn’t sound like anything else will fail. How long have you had the washing machine?

Re: Indesit WIXL143 door lock problem

    Hi

Have had the Indesit for 18 months and previously had a Hotpoint Acquarius for 4 years when the drum bearings went-bought new bearings but impossible to extract duff bearings without wrecking the drum – built to break!

Thanks to all who have responded.
Doesn’t it feel damn good when you bring a dead machine back to life.

Having bought a new door interlock and fitted, still no joy – checked all PCBs for burn outs or loose connections – checked all wiring for fractures-still no magic finds.

On examining the locking claw on the door, I felt it was a bit adrift, so I split the door down and discovered that the pivot that holds the claw in place was held at one end only.

On reassembly – PERFECT – the door caught properly and the machine knows its shut and the world is wonderful again.

Curry tonight! and to think I was just about to lash out on a new Miele or Ise-maybe next time

    Thanks again guys

    Rob
