ModeratorCustomer has already decided to bin this heap. :rolls:
All visual and electrical checks OK. No loose contacts, brushes fine, no sign of component damage on either PCB, and no error messages.
Set to any programme and door locks then the machine either fills or drains for a split second dependant on which sitting it is on. If you don’t touch the machine it will keep on firing into life for less than a second before pausing for 15 to 30 seconds and repeating this :rolls:
Not seen this fault before, guessing the wonderful main PCB has gone AWOL, any one else come across this?
Jim.

No, never seen that. I agree with your guess. Sounds like it could have something to do with a worn out capacitor not doing its job right.
EMW?

Doorlock was rock solid on this one, I even gave it a tap just in case.
I am not certain but I am sure I could hear a very slight noise from the main PCB as the spurt of power occurred. 😕

Had a similar problem just lately and a replacement door cured the problem.

Forgive my hijacking the thread here Jim but, and I’m sure you’ll agree with me one this, hopefully? It does beg the question of any indie in the risk and liability of taking on a service call to these heaps of bother in the first place.
OK you take on the job, get there and it’s just a dodgy contact on the PCB. You tweak the connector block and away she goes, cop the call-out fee, job done. The bad news is that, same day, next day or next week the darn thing goes again, either the same symptoms or something seemingly unrelated, you’re forced to return and fuff around with it again. Fix it or not from then on in you’ve placed yourself in an unfortunate situation, last person to touch it and all that that implies as far as your customer is concerned.
Indie now regretting even taking on the job in the first place.:rolls:
My take is, when faced with a potential new customer stating they have an Indesit (or similar branded) machine that’s “Doing strange things or behaving badly” then internal alarm bells ring and I tell them straight that I can do the impossible on a same day service basis but from what they are telling me over the phone may just involve me opening my box of miracles. And for that I charge extra and, even then, there’s no guarantee it would be an economical undertaking.
If they are still up for it I call by and charge the agreed fee on the understanding that, fix it or not, there’s no guarantee of lasting success even if I fit parts.
Needless to say many are put off by that statement and go elsewhere, much to my relief it must be said. 😈

An excellent piece of business advice, Martin. Great analysis; tells it just like it is! I am grateful for it. (Especially after a day like I’ve had. 😉 )

I like you Martin am approaching the twilight of my career, also like you I have a long established and loyal following that keeps the wolf from the door. 😉
I won’t even go out to an 8 flash or whatever lights job under any circumstances and am also very circumspect when agreeing to soil my hands on a lot of the utter carp on the market today. 😥
Jim.
