Hi Guys, you saved me once before so I’m back for more help please 😀

Our shiny new machine above was delivered yesterday and all looked ok, did empty wash as per instructions and then a proper load fine.

However this am I happened to notice that at the base of the door seal there is a 1cm round hole in the internal seal and a second 1/2cm hole in the internal fold of the seal (where it joins with drum). Both these are on internal side of seal and therefore no water leaking. I’m just curious if this is design feature to stop water sitting at base of seal (allowing it to drain into drum) or is something up. The hole in internal fold looks manufactured but the one at base on seal looks less so? 😕

Any advice appreciated before I call out engineer and possibly waste his time with what could be design feature?

    Thanks

TBH you should have asked for our advice before you bought an Indesit. 😉

However the holes are as you suspect, drain holes to prevent water lodging in the seal after the programme ends. 🙂

    Jim.

Re: INDESIT WIXL143S Door Seal queries

    Many thanks for initial reassurance.

As for Indesits generally, just done a search on here (beginning to wish I hadn’t!) Unfortunately pressure from wife (it had to be silver and here now) meant research was limited to how quick we could get one. :rolls:

Any tips on how to prolong life of this model and common signs of problems to look out for ? You’ve now got me wondering if £88 for a 3 year all parts and labour warranty might not be bad idea. It came with 5year parts cover but understand that means going through Indesit service for any repairs.

The best way to prolong its life is not to use it. 😆

I would seriously consider the £88 if I was you. Remember that when the shop salesperson tells you that it is a three year warranty just remind them that the machine already has a full 12 months guarantee from the manufacturer so the £88 is for 2 years cover not three unless they are going to cover you for years 2 to 4. 😉

The five year parts cover still leaves you with the Indesit £99+ labour charge. :rolls:

In common with most low to mid end machines it has a completely sealed outer drum.

You need to be very, very careful to check all pockets, aviod washing underwired bras and use a washbag for all tiny items.

If you get anything stuck in the drum and it cannot be fished out from the hose or heater apertures then its a complete new drum assembly or a new machine.

A good read of our ‘Help & Advice’ articles will give you some good tips on detergent use etc.

Thanks for advice, will go for 3 year cover as machine not too expensive in first place. Here’s hoping ! :rolls:
