Indesit WL113 Flashing No.1

I have an Indesit washing machine model no WL113. Its about 2 months old and a week ago it started flashing the 1st led light (green) with the door lock (red) light. This happened after the program has washed and rinse the clothes, and was about to start the spin cycle. I’ve also tried to manually set it to spin – but it still came up with the same problem. The water drains from the drum but it just wont spin. I’ve tried checking the waste pipe to see if there is any obstructions or blockages. It seems fine. Any suggestions?

I think it is a motor fault? Best get straight onto Indesit to get them out to sort it 😉

I have gotten in touch with the Indesit service care and have booked an appointment. I will post up the solution if they manage to fix it.

I also have the very same problem only my machine is almost 2 years old and so it will cost me alot to get some one out just to have a look. I just need to know is it worth it or shall I just buy a new one?

I have had the Indesit guy in – and he insist its my plumbing that is causing the problem. So I changed the waste water plumbing under my sink to make sure there is no problem with drainage. For the time being it has solved the problem. However, occasionally it is still playing up. I need to turn the machine off, set the machine to drain manually and then start it up again.

So, I am not entirely convinced that that was the only problem. The Indesit guy was insisting that the waste pipe from my machine was too long (apparently 1.5m is the recommended length) – however I still think this model is very buggy and not very reliable. The previous owner did not have any problem with the set up with her other machine. I would recommend first looking at the drainage – and if that doesnt solve the problem – probably getting a new machine. I definately regret getting this machine. I guess you get what you pay for!

If the pump is in good order, the filter at the bottom clear then the machine should easily pump water along a 2 to 3 metre level length of hose, the problem often arises with the connections made to these pipes, either joined by a connector that reduces the bore of the hose significantly, crushed by overtightened jubilee clips or connected to a sink drain that itself is partially blocked. Use of a ‘non return ‘ valve for the outlet pipe is not a good idea for a washing machine, these often get clogged up.

One simple test would be to hook the grey plastic outlet hose over the sink, if it works perfectly like that then your outlet setup is at fault somewhere.

Hi,

An update on my problem – although the machine worked for a few wash, its packed up again. This time the 4th function light is flashing again. Can anyone tell me what that means? I was also trying to check the filter but was unable to pull it out. I managed to loosen it (turning clockwise) but can seem to pull it out. I suspect that the water is not draining out properly and maybe the filter is block, causing the pump to be ineffective.

I think I am slowly getting to the bottom of my problems but would like to know what the error message (4th button flashing) means.

Oh sorry, one more question –

I was trying to clean the filter – can anyone tell me how the take the filter from an Indesit machine out? I followed instructions, – turn anti-clockwise. I did, but I cant pull it out. Is it cause there is an obstruction or that there is another way of releasing that I am unaware of?

It does sound as though you have a coin or other solid object in the filter, you need to check the pockets with more care. 😉

If the filter is jammed then you have to remove the whole of the pump from underneath to be able to remove the obstruction.

Surprised the Indesit engineer didn’t check the filter. 😕

Hi Jim,

Actually, when the machine was delivered, the tray dispenser was damaged – I found bits of small plastics in the waste water pipe and the tray was replaced by the engineer. The engineer didnt check the filter because he was sure the blockage was caused by faulty plumbing. I also didnt think to check the filter until the problem started happening again after I have changed the sink trap etc.

I suppose the pump has to be removed from the back then?

Is the fact that the 4th function button is flashing points to another problem?

4th neon flashing indicates a water level switch problem, this could be directly linked to a pump obstruction.

Best way to access pump is by carefully tilting machine backwards and leaning it against a wall or cupboard. Be sure to remove the plug and have a few towels handy.

Hi jim,
Thanks for the info about the warning light. At least its pointing to a similar source of the problem. I have called the Indesit guy (again -3rd time now) and insist he checks the pump. If that doesn’t solve the problem…i might just have a sledgehammer ready.
