    Hi all,

    My first post…!

I am intending to purchase these 2 Zanussi items, but I have seen differing advice as to whether or not an induction hob can be installed above a DOUBLE built-under oven.

Bosch website says their hob/oven combos are OK with a min 50mm gap between the underside of hob and the top of the oven (but Bosch combo costs £450 more than the Zanussi!). Zanussi site doesn’t give any detailed info. I guess a telephone call will be needed, but I wondered if anyone on this site has any advice on this.

    Thanks

At best you need the ventilation but, even with the Bosch statement, I wouldn’t advise it in all honesty.

Too much heat on delicate electronics rarely ends well.

Yes 50mm with a zanussi is ok but there must also be a gap above the cooker of at least 10mm to allow the cooling fans within the hob to draw air into the base of the hob to cool the circuit boards. Are you aware you need pans with a magnetic “biscuit base” else the hob wont work ensure your pans say suitable for induction .Also if it goes out the warrenty it will be very exspensive to repair

    Thanks for the swift responses!

I am aware of the saucepan issue re induction hobs. May be possible to lower the plinth that the oven sits on to create the biggest practicable gap above the oven. Not the best idea cosmetically I know, but may be the only solution. The kitchen installer will be sending the techical surveyor next week, so I will see what he says. We don’t have the room to install the hob elsewhere. An extended warranty is on the cards.
