ParticipantHello all
I have had three years’ use from my induction hob but it has developed an intermittent fault. Sometimes it doesn’t want to power up – when I put a finger on the touch-sensitive ON symbol, instead of a long bleep and coming on, it will give a small part of a bleep and if the hob indicators light at all, they go straight off. The first time I had a problem was when I was cooking, tapped a spoon on the side of a pan to knock food off the spoon and the hob switched itself off. Since then I have tried to be more careful and not to bang the pans around, but maybe I haven’t been careful enough.
It seems more like a loose connection than anything else – there haven’t been any error codes.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I still have this problem – tonight the thing won’t come on at all.
I’d be really grateful for any advice.
Thanks

It is hard to tell the fault without dismantleing the hob.
The most likly fault would be the touch sensor switches have dropped down so they can not sense your fingers.
To repair this fault you have to dismantle it and is not a DIY repair.Bob

ParticipantRe: Induction hob AEG 78001KF-N and IKEA FRAMTID HINF4T
It’s been a little while since I originally posted. I haven’t found the money to get this fixed, as I was asked for over £600 by ServiceForce…
Since then I’ve been using 2X ALDI £25 induction plug-in hobs. They work just fine.
I want to ask about an induction hob I saw in IKEA – it is the same size as my AEG (71cm), so will fit the hole in the counter top. It even looks like it and the power specs are the same. Would any of you chaps know if it is made by the same manufacturer? The IKEA one is only £399 and has a free 5 year guarantee.
Cheers
