About 3 years ago I had an induction hob fitted. Over the last couple of months it has developed a fault. About 5 minutes after putting a pan on to boil, all the lights on the display panel will flash very quickly and a warning beep will sound. After a few seconds this will slow down and eventually stop. At this point the hob will either switch itself off or go back to the original settings. The same thing will happen again 3 or 4 times during the cooking process.

I’ve contacted the manufacturers who say they’ve never heard of this fault and want to charge me £99 for an engineer to come out.

Has anyone else heard of or experienced this problem? Does anyone know what causes it and whether an electrician would be able to resolve it (possibly more cheaply than the manufacturer)?

    Re: Induction hob problems

The make and model would help. 😉

TBH most of the insides of these hobs are units, you’ll have one or two PCBs and either 4, 2 or 1 hob assemblies depending on the design.

So, unless it’s a simple reset, it’s gonna cost a lot to put right.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
It’s a Hotpoint BE82 Ceramic Induction Hob. I had a horrible feeling this was going to be expensive….

Well, the good news is that, because it’s Hotpoint, it has a 5 year parts warranty so you should just have the labour to pay.
