ParticipantHi
My son has bought a Neff induction hob and a Neff built-under double oven (U1722) for his new kitchen.
Looking at the dimensions guide for the oven it states that if using under an induction hob, the worktop must be at least 50mm thick???
I have never seen a worktop available that thick and it seems strange that the products from the same company have this limitation?
Any advice welcomed.

Hi Phil
I`d be more concerned achieving the minimum of 65 mm from the top of the worktop to the top of the oven and 20mm at the rear. Reason being is that adequate ventilation is the key for the cooling fans to get a good air supply so the hob doesn`t overcook. The worktop depth I would probably check with Neff advice line on 0844 892 8926.

Yes, many thanks. Neff helpline confirm that you need to ensure the gap between the top of the worktop and the oven.
That shouldn’t be a problem, as the Neff oven can either mount in a cabinet or on the runners supplied between two cabinets (we have the latter).
There is a separate 6mm cable for the hob and another for the double built-under oven, which I assume is okay? Both go to their own breaker on the consumer unit.

Hi Phil
Just out of curiousity what was the outcome of the worktop thickness requirement ?

Hi Don
Neff just said that if you don’t use a 50mm worktop then add the difference to the space e.g. 40mm worktop needs additional 10mm space between the oven.
The only question will be how this affects the allignment of the oven with the rest of the base unit doors? Will have to suck it & see.
Does seem stupid for a company to design two compatible products that have these constraints (both oven and hob are Neff)? Nowhere on any of the product information available when purchasing (from different online suppliers) made any mention!
The pleasures of saying you’d fit your son’s new kitchen.

Hi Phil
That makes sense about the worktop depths, I guess they do it to cover themselves :rolls:
The trouble with ordering online is that they are only only order “pushers” . Which is where the independant retailer really comes into it`s own, granted you may pay more beans but at the end of the day you can`t put a price on good service and advice.
Good luck with the install I`m sure your son will reward you well 😀
