    Hello all,

Has anyone had a module out of the new Merloni Hotpoint’s. If so

Do they appear to be the same as the Ariston / Indesit modules.

If not – Do they use surface mounted componants. (lots of little black dotty thingies on the solder surface of the PCB).

    Thanks for any info

    Kind regards

    Andy 🙂

    Would that include the WF630G (18 m.old)?
If so, no it’s nothing like them.
    It’s something new and threatening!
Iadom reckons the motor runs on 3 phase (see discussion same forum few days back).
Big heatsink with 6 triacs(?) clamped to it.
Don’t remember seeing smd ‘s though.
Looked a lot more robust than Indesit/Ariston ones.
Maybe they were listening to you?
    Reckon you’ll love ’em 🙂

    Iadom

I got a lot of practice writing as a technical author. 😉

On a more serious note (as if) do all these Merloni Hotpoint m/c use a three phase DC motor or just some models?

Are all the new Ariston / indesits the same.

By the way lmtgowi the three componants bolted to the heatsink are power transistors (MOSFETS or Bipolar) that make up the inverter stage that supply current to the motor phase windings. These are driven by a controller IC.

    Thanks Andy,
I wasn’t really looking at the thing in that way when I had it in my hand, just looking for signs of burning!
But if you knew all that already….?
    Mike.
PS “three phase DC” ? OMG I didn’t know such things existed and here I am pretending I can fix it!

    Hey Mike

Were all on all learning curve, I did,nt know about this stuff myself until a few months ago. Somebody on here put me on the right track.

Thats one of the really good things about UKWG we can all help each other out and learn off each other.

By pooling our knowledge we will all be in a much better position to handle new stuff as it comes along despite some not very nice manufacturers who withold nympho – sorry info – my mind keeps wandering!

Personally I have had some really heplfull info off guys on this site when I have been stuck, and I really appreciate that

    Andy2,
only the higher priced Hotpoints seem to have the new motor on at the moment. I haven’t sen any Indesits with it yet but I am sure it will come if they prove to be reliable.
