    we have an insinkerator in the workshop for repair, model 55-1a
    serial xc80578111. the machine is all free and we have opened up for a visual inspection but when you switch on it just hums!! any ideas what to check/test?

    If there’s a motor starter capacitor that’s probably failed.

    no capacitor just a start windings switch in base which seems to be ok

    anyone know where to get spares for these machines? (other than direct)
    i think on furher inspection (totally dismantled now) the bearings are binding sometimes. phoned direct today spoke to someone who’s response to any question was “we can send an engineer” or “using the allen key, turn it anti-clockwise then clockwise”

    Any parts you require can be supplied by our selves
    Bearings are not a spare part! may I suggest that you also change ALL seals.
