    Hello,

I’m a newbie to this forum and would really like some advice.

I sold a used new Hygena oven APL3120 that was taken out for a kitchen reburbishment. The oven had never been used and seemed to be in fully working order at the time.
The buyer of the oven is reporting that when he installed it, there is a direct earth on both elements?
Can anyone shed some light on what this means? and a solution please?

    Many thanks in advance 🙂

Just another thought ,it could also mean there is an earth fault ie leak to earth when the element is tested with a megger which could have sent the rcd trip out.
If the oven has been stored some where for a while the oven elements do tend to absorb damp and then will set an rcd trip off. They can be dried out sometimes but it’s not always 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.

Totally agree with Spimps, unfortunately most sparkies don’t realise that Elements will soak up damp if left in an unheated area.

    Hi,

    Thanks again for your replies.

I have heard back from the buyer and he states:

These elements are both removed from the oven and are “going to earth” This means that when I use my “multi meter” for checking the continuity (circuiting), one of the circuits is going to earth (short circuiting)

Both the top and bottom elements have two separate element circuits.

He has taken photos of the elements which are supposely not available? I will upload this when I reveive them.

Any ideas what the next step is?

    Many thanks Penguin,

Do you have any idea how much both the elements are?

A trick is to pop them in a friends oven and “cook” them for 40 minutes or so a@180C this MAY expell the moisture so you can check with the meter again and may be able to rescue them for use.
