I bet someone has bought or knows someone that bought one of the cheap meggars from Ali Express !!
I see one on there for less than 20 quid BM500A which tests up to 1000v
Comes with test probes and croc clips by the looks
    Can anyone advise me please

For the most important piece of equipment on my van I wouldn’t take a chance tbh

Keep an eye on eBay. Some great Fluke, Martindale and Robin insulation testers on there.

Ah so no one tempted to even have a look at one ???
They must work I suppose but on the other hand for how long ?
€20 is just too cheap really but if someone had tried it ?
I’ll shop around as I”m not in a rush – this new one would be kept in our workshop to save going back out to van
    Cheers

I’m sure someone will but hey you’ve realise that decent durable meters cost £100’s. There is good reason for this that doesn’t need too much figuring.

For your workshop you’ll need something decent anyway. And, don’t forget, one that can be regularly re-calibrated every year or so.

I brought one. Works great apart from the 500volt button did not work out of the box. Brought on amazon cost a bit more but needed it next day. Cheaper than having to spend 500+ at this time of year. So far it as picked up evry fault i have thrown at it. Even my own flesh..

Did it come with English instructions ?
What is the idea of 3 connection ports?
My meggar has a common coloured black and then a red coloured 2nd port marked Ohms

I didn’t know that insulation testers come with operating instructions, whatever next?

They’ll be giving cranky advice and wobbly videos in YouTube next 😐
