ParticipantI am on the lookout for a decent Meggar and also a multimeter with facility to measure capacitance
I use 2 separate meters at the moment, has anyone found an all in one ??
My meggar has a continuity test also but no other featuresOctober 5, 2016 at 10:27 pm #441557Hollytree_Technical

I use a Fluke 1587, it has proved to be a reliable meter even after having got rained on a couple of times (just don’t let it get damp between the 2 pins that connect to the remote button otherwise it won’t turn on till it has dried out).

I use a Martindale insulation tester which is great and just a cheap multimeter as backup

It sounds as though the Metrahit all in one could be a worthy successor to my 2nd Seaward Primetest 200 (sadly no longer available). Do you have the model details for yours, kaibart?

Interesting, within the same category, the Metrahit ISO is marketed specifically for home appliance service technicians, only £584 plus VAT at Reichelt.

have to ask, what capacitors do you measure and why?

I use the capacitance feature for test motor start/run capacitors and those capacitors that are used for power supply purposes on the pcbs.
It may have cost me about £500 seven years ago but has survived several drops and getting wet (not submerged) several times and still passes calibration with ease.Jem
