i have a cooker which is in total rated over 3kw and when i do insulation test it comes to 0.48mohm but only reads that from the grill element. Does any one know if the 0.3mohm test on class 1 heating appliences is the total of the cooker or can i do it on individual elements??

0.3Mohm is the TOTAL for Class 1 (cooker) based on a standard insulation test @ 500vDC.

is that the case if the cooker is over 3 kilo watts??

i thought it went to 1 mohm if over 3kw.

what i want to know is this total of whole cooker or individual elements

I can’t access my code of practice book at the moment but like Martin, I’m positive it’s for the whole appliance.
Look at it from this point of view: If the customer has the grill in use, and then they put the fan oven on, that’s probably over 3KW. 😉
