KeymasterI now have definate proof that Connect are selling insurance policies to cash call customers. Just to record it the job number is C0195600
A Mr Buckingham called yesterday having been given my number by Connect. He has a Brandt range cooker, having advised the call out of £80.00 + Vat, he asked if he could purchase insurance on his appliance, so I advised he call Connect and ask.
A hour later I received a Connect call with the customer now having an insurance policy, I have phoned the customer and confirmed with him that he was able to purchase an insurance, no problem.
The only defence for Connect is that in the 1st instance they did pass the call to me…..and I did send that customer back. However the implications are they could easily change……
For obvious reasons I’ve posted in here.

Depending on how soon you’re guy is going and how quickly Connect get the paperwork out, a quick look by the engineer at the policy ducument should confirm who exactly is underwriting the policy.
D&G I would imagine ?
Like you say though, it won’t take them long to stop the chargeable work all together if they choose to, charge the customer the £80 themselves, give them a 12 month “cover note” and bag the £40 difference.
Hmmm 🙁

How do they sell an insurance to a customer for an appliance that they know has a fault on it to begin with ?
Christ I’d love to be able to buy my motor insurance that way, have a smash then go get a policy. 😉
