“Insurance work?” π
Have you tried contacting CDSL for agency work? Maybe phone local estate/letting agencies? Register with your local county council for contract work?…..or as pup mentioned, just take a break whilst it’s quiet this Bank Holiday weekend….after all May traditionally is a shoosh month workwise due to bank holidays tacked on both ends. Plus Gordon Brown has still half a chance yet of screwing it up for us all in the preceeding months….so why worry? π

Keep the faith my friend adv. I’m sure things will turn out just great for you in spite of it all. Website eh? Sounds good, I’m very much into websites and website creation (as you may know?)…please do tell me…your site address? Perhaps I can help you get loads more ‘hits’ from it? π

Hi,
What I’d say about the website is that you need to sell yourself a bit more. What’s your unique selling point, e.g. experience, quick response, free call out etc.
Without being rude, compare this to one of your competitors: –
http://www.edinburghrepairs.co.uk/Bang – first page, I already know they’re experienced, big letters at the top of the page. I also know they do free estimates and all work is guaranteed – yes, I know, EVERYONE on here guarantees their work but you need to use that to talk yourself up :). Customers are like sheep, you know you’re the best but they still need a bit of prodding to call you!
They also have positive review on Google – in my experience loads of young people with Indes*its etc. use Google so easy jobs – ask some of your regulars to write something.
No point paying Β£hundreds to submit to search engines, you can do it yourself for free here: –
http://www.submitexpress.com/submit.htmlThe thing that really counts for search engines though is sites linking too you – try and find an Edinburgh info or environment website that’s quite popular and get them to link to you – you’ll notice the difference in days.
Hope that helps – we all have quiet times but that’s what the big pile of old machines to recon in the workshop is for π

Shouldn’t be any need, did they give you access to edit your website? I hate computers. keep all my accounts in good old books, but mine came with a thing where you log on and can change the text on screen just like in this forum, so it’s dead easy. Might be worth asking them if you could do this?
I use to to chuck my recons on too as cheaper than selling through eBay and you get more money… not that there’s much around ATM as price of metal means scraap machines are hard to come by :(.

Oh blimey…..what can I say that’s wise?….Err?….well, your website is a neat little package. It looks OK but that’s as far as it goes, a bit like a little glossy ad you come across in a much thumbed magazine in a dentists waiting room in fact. In other words, looks good but practically no-one will read or see it even. It certainly won’t flag up in any search engine, no way I’m afraid. All the bush*te the web designers speil about getting your site high up in the ratings is and will be just that, bullsh*te! π
So, at this point in time my words of wisdom are don’t invest any more funds into the web designers pockets. You have a neat little website that enables you to add it to any of your other forms of advertising. And as far as selling your services toward letting agents, w/p’s, local council services, help the aged, CAB and insurance companies etc etc. They at least will be able to check out your site and be suitable impressed I’m sure of that! π
