ParticipantHi
My mum has just bought a new house and is having the kitchen replaced and requires the following items
Integrated 50/50 fridge freezer
Integrated 60cm Under counter freezer
Double oven
Induction hob
Integrated dishwasher (60cm)She has seen a bosch oven and hob that she quite likes, are there models within the range that should be avoided? (When I was buying a washer last year, I was advised on here that certain models were made in China and best avoided)
5 years I bought an AEG/Electrolux dishwasher following advice from these forums and it was fantastic (although it didn’t like cleaning off mashed potato!). Are they still good?
Value rather than price is important (although there will be a limit), any advice appreciated.
Also, are there any good independants in the Leeds/Bradford/Wakefield/West Yorks area that we could go to rather than buying online?
Many thanks

To my knowledge no Bosch appliance sold in this country has come from China. Heaven forbid…! The cheap tacky brand Bush (sold in Argos I believe?) is more likely of Chinese origin. Try not to confuse the two similar names. 😉
My recommendation is Bosch every time.! 😀

Hi Martin
Perhaps not “made in China” then, but I’m convinced I read something on here about a cut off point in the Bosch range of Washers where the product quality went up.
Perhaps I’m cracking up!
Edit: Found what I remembered seeingDecember 13, 2013 at 5:06 pm #406215Martin

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Buy yourself mid-range Bosch and relax in the knowledge you have bought well. 😀

Hi
That was back in March :rolls: fast forward to the 27th November and the latest info is……………….

I have the current definitive answer 😀 The WAQ is the only range to have the sealed drums. WAE,WAS and WAY all have split tubs.
I have a Bosch and would have another as well, a fair few of the family members also have Bosch machines some of which do have the sealed drums with no problem at all.

Ah, that explains that then.
What are your thoughts on the fridge freezer, freezer, dishwashers oven and hob please folks.
Bosch all the way?

You don’t give an absolute budget but, to remain within reason and probably how I’d go with some pointers…

Liebherr.
Install it correctly, it’ll last for years and just work.
Yes, parts can be expensive and slow at times but, you’ll rarely if ever need them especially the usual run of the mill stuff. The only things that tend to break on Liebherr are the odd door handles, that aren’t a concern on integrated and the odd shelf support or suchlike which won’t stop it from running.
As a primary appliance you need to rely on, that’d be my choice.
greenstick wrote:Integrated 60cm Under counter freezer
Can I ask why it’s needed if you have a fridge freezer?
If it’s just for additional long terms storage, a small chest freezer may be a better bet so long as you’ve got somewhere to keep it and, a heap cheaper as well.

Tough one these days.
Bosch are good to be fair to them but I’m not convinced by some of the “premium” features that they throw in these days, most people will rarely need them or use them. Looks good on paper though.
The Electrolux brands are worth looking at and just as good pretty much, but often lower cost with slightly more reasonably priced spares when the time comes.
Smeg = style + price. Not really any better than the rest but decent enough ovens, I find them a tad harsh heat wise although, that can be a good thing but you will pay for that style.
Miele, V-Zug et all, good but you need the income of the third world country to justify the cost. Even then, you may struggle.
Steer clear of the cheap stuff, not so good for cooking with IMO.

There’s not much in that either, big magnets and some electronics is really all that they are in essence.
Do consider however that you will need pans with an iron content for it to work and depending on what you cook would determine the suitability.
For example, if you make jam or anything that involves molten sugar ceramic hobs are not a good plan. Molten sugar on them is like acid, it eats the ceramic so a bad choice if you cook anything of that ilk.
They are also ludicrously expensive to repair when they break as almost all components inside them are one-piece assemblies so it isn’t uncommon for one or two parts to cost more than a complete replacement.
Airflow and ventilation are also critical, muck it up and the hob will get killed in short order.

If it says “Made In PRC” on it, avoid like the plague.
If it has to be integrated, Bosch or Electrolux (AEG/Zanussi/Electrolux) are generally fine.
Beko a worthwhile budget option if need be.
Smeg, good but expensive and not all that much better than any of the others.
Then there’s Miele, good but not cheap at all.

Thanks for the advice
Yes, you can ask why a fridge freezer and a separate freezer…I did when she said.
She has previously had a chest freezer in the garage, but this house does not afford easy access to the garage without shifting the car. As the car only gets used 2/3 days a week, she doesn’t want to have to move the car every time she needs Oven chips.
Initially seems a strange request but when she explains it, I see why

Liebherr do not make a 50/50 built in fridge freezer, so look at bosch Neff or siemens.
the entry level bosch dishwasher is polynox interior, plastic and steel, so the entry level smeg which is around £300 is a good buy, DI6012, it is full steel interior. You wont go wrong with Bosch Neff or Siemens stuff.

Depends on budget, but if “best value” is what your looking for,
Integrated 50/50 fridge freezer & 60cm Under counter freezer
Gorenje – with their 5yr guarantee – F/F c. £400 delivered, and Frzr c. £325 delDouble oven / Induction Hob
Bosch/Neff or Gorenje again, no idea about price as specs vary wildlyIntegrated dishwasher
Have a look at an Amica ZIV615. About £320ish deliveredHave not had any issues with neffs or bosch’s with the polynox plastic bases. There were initial concerns about hygeiene, knives falling and stabing them etc, but overall so far there hasnt been a major problem we have come across. Id actually pick one of those over a s/s interior smeg, purely because the wash quality is accepted to be better overall.
