We are looking to replace our integrated FF (70/30 split), we have a Beko which has lasted 6 years but have been told by the repairer that “the PCB thermostat and sensors are buried in the insulation and these will be at fault, unfortunately we can’t safely replace any of these as the damage to the insulation is too great.

He recommended a Fridgemaster MBC55275 but it’s not frost free and seems to have no reviews as a revived rebadge, owned by Hisense now? He is not keen to reinstall a Beko, even though the BCFD173 has reasonable reviews.

We’re not in the market for Liebherr – are there any cheaper options which aren’t a quality lottery? I presume frost free is better, although I was surprised to see eg Bosch KIV38X22GB wasn’t frost free.

    Can anyone help?

most manufacturers do both types of unit. with self defrosting you should find the freezer available space is lower due to the pipework inside the freezer compartment

also your repairer recommends Fridgemaster which is a low end Chinese unit which incidentally only carries 12 months warranty where the Beko has 2 years on integrated units

Thanks, yes, the advice doesn’t make much sense. I think we might go with this Gorenje : http://www.appliancecity.co.uk/gorenje/ … uct-21734/ – although I haven’t heard of them the UKWhitegoods brand history sounds reasonable, and it’s a 5 year warranty.

    Hi

Gorenje is a good choice, products are distributed mainly through the independent channel. Spares are reasonably priced with service sourced through the independents.

There is the thought that frost free with it’s more components is less reliable however the benefits it gives it is worth the risk IMO.
