    Hi,

My mum is looking to buy an integrated fridge and freezer from John Lewis (JLBIUCL06 & JLBIUCFZ02). My problem with this is that John Lewis are asking for £90 for the installation of each one plus the freezer would have to have the hinge moved to the other side – an additional £30.

My instinct is that this is a ridiculous amount and that I could just do it myself but thought it might be worth asking people with actual knowledge of these processes if that is likely. Is it just a case of unscrewing and screwing or is there a lot more at play in doing this?

ask a local kitchen fitting form for a fitting price (cash) if you supply the units

    Thanks for the reply Dave.

The units are already installed (I doubt that effects your advice). I take it that it is trickier than simply unscrewing the door, sliding out the old unit, sliding in the new unit and screwing the door back on?

Same for the hinge reversal – I’d assumed it would, in essence, be a matter of simply switching the hinges over.

Nope not that easy.. The hinges on either one may have to be moved, re-cut on the door panel dependent on the fixings. Also the levelling, spacing, ventilation would be JL’s responsibility if not done correctly which could cause you to be charged where it was found to be an installation fault.

    It’s worth paying up.
