ParticipantHi,
We bought a house with an MFI kitchen – with integrated appliances. It’s about 5 years old, but the Fridge/Freezer has started to die – it’s not freezing food consistently, some freezes, some doesn’t!
Anyway, the motor has started running really loudly too now, so we think it’s time to replace it.
However – I’ve never owned an integrated appliance before, and have no idea how to go about buying/installing a replacement. I have the dimensions, but I’m not sure about how much flexibility there is with that, as there is a gap above and below the current appliance.
Also – do we have to buy a specific integrated appliance, because this one looks like they’ve just put gliders on the front of a regular appliance, and I’m not sure how we would actually install a new appliance and fix it to the outer doors.
Has anyone had experience with this before? Do we need to pay someone to install it? Do we need to get someone to look at the unit we are replacing to recommend replacement models?
All help appreciated! Thanks!

Generally these appliances are designed to fit into a standard kitchen unit. Without blowing the trumpet of the independent service company network you might buy from a local company that will fit the item for you and subsequently look after both you and the appliance if it goes wrong. You do not have to spend vast amounts to get reliable appliances but what you should look at is the parts and labour cover the manufacturer offers. As a starting point you might consider Gorenje supplied by many independents and with a 5 year P&L guarantee as standard. If you post the area that you live in I’m sure you will get a response. Good hunting[/u]

We’ve ordered a Whirlpool fridge/freezer from Appliances Direct, but we’re going to have to fit it ourselves – it appears that we just need to screw the glider brackets into the new fridge, and as it’s an integrated one, it may come with those already fitted – this is the bit we’re not sure about though.

hi there, most of the units are the same width + depth ,the height is sometimes different + as you say all you need is a packing piece for top + bottom to make it look nice when fitted.
the fridge freezer should be screwed into the unit at the top, middle + bottom. unscrew the kitchen unit doors from the F/F . then it should slide out. they are very light= crap.funny how they always break down more than free standing units yet are more expensive? seeing as they have no fancy curved doors etc. 👿 we are being ripped off. -
