ParticipantOn Saturday I went to a Neff built in microwave which turned out to be BER. It would be possible to fit an ordinary freestanding microwave on the same unit shelf but would need some sort of surround as there are raw chipboard edges exposed on the unit. I found an Electrolux surround on the Connect site:
http://connections.connect-distribution … +microwaveIt does not make it clear whether this is a universal part or if it only fits Electrolux microwaves. It looks like Electrolux only sell built in models so perhaps the surrounds are just replacement parts for those? Does anyone have any information about this product such as dimensions?

The info you seek was just under the Connect picture 😉

Thanks to this kit, it is now possible to integrate your freestanding microwave in to any kitchen
Maximum space allowed 60x40cm

Those dimensions don’t make sense though. If you had a 600mm wide microwave in a 600mm unit the surround could only be the width of the wood and it is clearly wider than that. Perhaps it is designed to be cut to size? 😕

Enlarging the Connect picture it appears that the surround kit sits inside the housing on one side anyway. It would have been handy if the cut out size was given as well. Can`t tell if it can be cut to fit.
I wonder if a call to Connect would yield any info?

From memory Neff intergrated M/W’s are built by Panasonic and are the same dimensions as most of the free standing ones, the only difference being the intergration kit, which doesn’t justify the + £500 price tag.
I believe even a £30 micro from Tesco will feet without an issue to the intergration kit.

Yes, it’s an inverter one so I did wonder if it was a Panasonic in disguise. Only trouble is, the old one is brown, not an easy colour to find these days. Possibly a new stainless steel microwave would look OK in the original brown surround.
