ParticipantHi,
I have a Schreiber intergrated undercounter fridge (with icebox),
Model no APM 6121.
Last weekend the tenants told me the door wasn’t closing, & we found the bottom hinge to be broken. We took the cupboard door off to reduce the weight, & ordered two new hinges from here (Thanks!)
Today, I had a handyman round to fix the new hinges. New hinges & door were fitted very quickly, but something is still not quite right, & we don’t know what. The fridge closes ok if you push it from fully open (90 degrees) to shut, & stays shut. However, if you push it from about 10degrees to shut, it pops back open very slightly. You need to push it closed that last 1/2 cm by hand, rather than just letting it close itself. He has tightened every screw on the hinges. He’s tried moving the fridge within the cupboard. He’s checked it’s not catching on anything.
Any suggestions?

Does anyone have an idea? ❓
I’ve look at the spare parts available for this model, & I could get a new door & seal for another £50 & delivery.Would this solve the problem of the door not closing properly…infact staying open very slightly, leading to food rotting & freezer compartment defrosting, eventually damaging my wood floor?
Or should I just give up on this fridge & buy a new one? It was fitted by the original owners, so is probably 7 or 8 years old now. I’ve seen an integrated indesit larder fridge on offer at £180. I don’t really want to pay MFI’s prices for an identical one, when I see so many posts on here about duff hinges with their models.
Suggestions please????? 🙂

Hi,
It is likely that the door is goosed if both hinges have been replaced. However do check that the mounting points on the cabinet itself are okay as well before you order one.
Other than that there’s not a lot that can cause it TBH.

Just wanted to update….we finally worked out what was wrong & fixed it, with the help of a metal hacksaw 😆
The parts of the hinge that attached to the side of the kitchen cabinet were 2 cms larger than the original hinges, & the inside of the fridge door was hitting these. We chopped those bits off, leaving just one screw hole per hinge for the cabinet side, & it works fine. -
