Hi there, I’ve an intergrated fridge freezer with fixed hinges and want to change for a sliding hinge type as there are more choices, is it possible to hang the cupboard doors normally and have a sliding door fridge freezer?

I think you may have miss read the question! I think what’s being asked is if you could re hang the cupboard doors and then buy a fridge with sliders. So yes- peovided you have the skills to rebate the doors to fit cupboard door hinges and correctly fit them. The actual housing should be the same size- fridges with sliders are not as wide to allow for the cupboard door hinges.

    I did misread that, sorry.

But if it’s hard against a wall or whatever then often you won’t have the clearance to allow the hinges to move if it’s not a fixed one put back in its place so, it can be sensitive to that as well and all too often tall larder units are at the end of a run. That means that if you fit a sliding type it won’t fully open correctly or foul on the wall.

I’ve come across that several times and it can be a big problem on some installs so, each has its own merits and issues.

Thanks both, makes sense on the space, end of run, fitting the doors as cupboards wouldn’t be difficult as the carcass already has the holes pre-cut, however the extra angle needed for opening for the freezer to allow drawers to open may be the clincher.
