A failed inter lock everything else is ok, lid off and released the lock manually, fitted new inter and machine dead, refit old one and everything ok except of course door wont open , so faulty new inter ?? supplier says no whats the opinion guys and gals

Fitted hundreds of those interlocks, never had a new one faulty, genuine or pattern.
Would suggest very close examination of both control and power module triacs and also look for any other visible signs of damage on pcb’s.
If one of these interlocks has jammed then it is virtually impossible to open them again without physically breaking them. The door will stay locked if machine is full of water or pressure switch has failed but pressure switch failure is not common.
If the door lock has shorted out then it is 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain that it has damaged one or both of the pcb’s. 🙁

What’s the part number of the lock ? It’s either the instant lock ending in 755 or the std one . It’s very odd for a door lock to kill all power on a HP. The motor and pump is wired through it but not mains in. Also check your putting the plug in the correct way some have to be reversed to work. The new versions also can have different PIN numbers. The old lock has 3,4,5 and the new one has 2,3,4. On these you wire it 2-3 3-4 and 4-5.

This one doesn’t have the plug, it’s the old style 1602390 interlock. similar model to a WD72, in fact like all WM/WD machines.

I dont think its the boards as it runs through a program till the end with the original door interlock fitted it simply wont release the door, the “new” inter fitted the machine is dead with supply going all the way down to the inter, does any one now what I should read in resistance through the interlock I have a Brown via the on/off switch Black and Red, Brown and Black supply the “lock” so what should the ohms be at this point. I therefore assume that the red becomes main supply to the boards, thanks for your patience chaps

the old locks on wm range may have welded contacts but no neutral supply going from the lock to the board, unscrew and sling back timer check for shorted tracks, most simple repair of resoldering and replace the lock, check door seal for holes.

No timer on this one Simon, it was the very last production run of the Ultima range, basically a WD72.
I still think some pcb damage has occurred.
I can you the WD72 manual if you like Devlin.
