    Hi,
    Can anyone help me please?

Got a Beko WM1512 S eco wash washing machine that’s playing with us.
It’s about 3 yrs old and for the last month has been intermitantly not draining (and then not spinning).
I would get a local engineer out but i don’t want to waste his time and my money if it doesn’t do it when he calls.
Any thoughts on what may becausing this fault and what i should do?

We mainly use the cooler (40 deg) cycle. it washes fine. Then either sits full of water “waiting” at the spin part of the cycle or simply motors past the whole section and sits full of water at the end; cue wet carpet if i’m not concentating when i open the door!
I can then, sometimes, drain using the drain cycle – but not always as it sometimes motors straight past to the end without pause.
Once it has drained i can “force” it to spin by setting the dial to spin, turning the machine on but off on the wall. After 5 mins or so i turn the mains on and it spins fine!!
If i don’t do the above it will just sit at the start of the spin cyle without any action or wait a while, then motor to the end again without any spinning.
The pump filter is clear but a little sludgey and i’ve run the “maintanence wash cycle” the handbook reccomends.

    Your thoughts please!!!

No doubt an engineer with more experience will come up with something else but in the mean time just because the filter is clear does not necessarily mean that there is not a foriegn object intermitently stopping the pump from working (inside the pump) … therefore stopping the spin cycle … ( no point spinning if full of water ) … HOWEVER … before you go removing pumps etc see what other advice turns up here … if in doubt, use the REPAIRS@ facility to find yourself an engineer who will be more than happy to come out …

Further to Rob’s post, there are two possibilities here. Firstly the pump itself is worn and its action is becoming intermittent. This is a common problem with the “magnetic” type pump motors fitted to virtually all modern washers. The timer may move through the end of the programme if drain is not detected in the time allowed, to seek new drain positions further round the dial. Secondly, the timer unit may be faulty and its switching action is becoming erratic. Rarer, but not uncommon. For instance, if it drains out at the end of the wash sequence every time, but drain at the last spin position is hit and miss, it may well be the timer playing up.

    Hi,
    cheers guys for those replies.
As you can see from the delay in my reply, time’s moved on

The intermittent fault became permenant and we got an engineer out.He played, umm’d and arr’d and went away. Got a phone call later to say he wasn’t too sure, it was most likely to be the timer or board, or both. Either way barely economical on a 3 year old £199 machine.

Whilst we decided what to do it started working again, initially just draining from one postion on the dial at the and of the wash program, but now it will run through cycles normally!!!!!

Unless someone can through some light on it i guess we’ll ‘make hay whilst the sun shines’ and throw the old girl once it re occures.

    Cheers anyway
