ParticipantThe fan in the top oven of our Neff U1552 does not always come on as it should. Nothing seems to be obstructing the fan and when it is given a bit of “encouragement” with a prod from a wooden skewer it starts to turn and works normally until the oven is turned off. It appears to me that the fan’s bearing is the problem. Can the fan be removed and the bearing cleaned and/or lubricated with heat resisting grease? Or is the only solution a new fan?

Fan motor can be removed from the rear and can be dismantled for cleaning. Don’t forget that the fan itself is retained by a nut with a left-hand thread.
However……. The commonest reason for sluggish running is down to the fan motor getting very hot as it ages and losing its ability to generate enough starting torque to get up to speed.
Power off first, please.

I’m having issues tracking done that model with the limited information however, being a tenacious “person”, I reckon that the fan motor should be this one.
If that’s the case it’s a pretty common fan motor used on Bosch, Neff and Siemens ovens and they do often display symptoms as you describe. That link is for the nice cheap “pattern” one, the scary priced genuine one is linked off that article as well if you feel like splashing more money than is required. I’ve looked at both of the motors we use and, I can’t tell the difference between them.
I’d need the full model and GB number to check it out fully but I’m 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure that’s the fan motor used in that oven.

Thank you both for your replies. KWATT, I would probably go for the cheaper replacement fan if it will suit my oven. The numbers on the nameplate are U1552NOGB/01 FD7812. Perhaps you could check if the cheaper fan is compatible.
Thankyou and regards, bigjohn

The cheaper motor is out of stock with everyone and their dog though for now and no ETA either. 🙁
The only good news is I managed to dig up a cheaper price on the genuine one so it’ now a fair bit less than it was.
