ParticipantHello,
My 10yr old Bosch dishwasher has recently starting showing signs of having trouble with the water fill process at the start; it fills a little, stops, fills a little, stops etc for about a couple of minutes before carrying on and working as normal (and the dishes come out clean). But this stop-start intake doesn’t sound like it’s doing the pipework any good at all.
From reading of similar problems on this forum, I guessed that some of the internal pipework on the machine is gunked up.
Anyway. I took the top off, then the LHS panel to inspect and hopefully find some tubing to clean out!

Trouble is, how do I go about cleaning up some of this pipework? The ribbed rigid pipe that runs from the bottom right of this picture and across the front of the machine would seem to be the one to clean out, but I’m unsure how to access it. Do I need to put the machine on its back and take the base off? I tried removing the lower front cover, but there was a metal plate behind that.
And that’s assuming that these gunky pipes are my problem!
Any advice appreciated,
Steve

You’re halfway there – remove lower front coverplate and the hose simply pulls away. The side chamber needs doing as well, BTW, you can see the congealed fat in it.
It all comes apart:

Make sure it’s all spotless and you shoild be fine.Power off first.

Those gunky pipes most certainly are your problem 😆
All the plastic bits either clip or just push together…you will need to remove the front metal plate to get access to the front end of the ribbed hose but gentle perseverance will pay off…no need to take the base off 😉
Plug out at all times of course :zap:

Also worth mentioning that you can avoid this problem by taking a few simple steps.
Regular use of a dishwasher cleaner can help but the biggest cause of all this gunk is a failure to rinse the dishes first before you load them into the machine.Just remember the adage, ‘it is a dishwasher, it is not a waste disposal unit’ 😉 🙂

Quick update for anyone interested!
Removed the lower front metal panel under the door (with perseverance!) and gained easy access to the short, ribbed pipe I was after. And it was well and truly gunked up…Thoroughly cleaned out the pipe, and then cleaned out the gubbins that the pipe was attached to. Put it all back together and bingo! – one happy dishwasher.
Many thanks to this site and moderators for providing confidence-inspiring advice, whilst also reminding us amateurs to proceed with caution 😉
Happy Christmas!
