Tried my machine again today (not working, pressure switch problems etc).

When I turn it on there is a very low barely-audible hum coming from pcb.

Is it supposed to make very slight continuous hum type electrical noise or be silent? It’s not a crackling sound or anything dangerous sounding though, more like white noise.

    Thanks

Relay coil or transformer giving 50 cycle hum maybe?

    You’ve lost me!

Is it normal though? I don’t want to be messing about trying to order pressure switch when it could be pcb?

I dunno what “pcb” you are referring to? But most include at least one relay coil and others have larger transformers on the board as well. They both contain electromagnets that, when energised, can hum (buzz even) at the 50 cycle AC voltage being applied.

    OK?

    Thanks for the reply.

Sorry to sound like a dumbo. You just got a bit technical when you started taking about relays and transformers. (A-Level physics was done too long ago and I only got a C!).

Referring to PCB on my Zanussi washing machine. Have E31 error which could be PCB (from what I have read).

Ah I see, well if you had asked the question in YOUR OTHER THREAD ON THE SUBJECT it may have clarified your need somewhat in asking it?

It’s always better to stick to ‘one thread, one problem’ so we can all chip in and no-one gets confused. 😉 🙂

This hum by the way, are you using a stethoscope to hear it, you must have good hearing otherwise? (Don’t answer that here but go to your other thread.)

And yes E31 could be the PCB at fault, or the wiring to it, or indeed the pressure switch come to that. 😕
