ParticipantHi All,
I have a Beko WM5100W and a Hotpoint 7kg WT540.
The Beko drum is perfect (still in machine) however, the Hotpoint drum has inner bearing (and outer now) failure. This is a welded unit and I cannot remove the bearings without trashing the drum totally.
The question is, Will the Beko drum go into the Hotpoint ?
They look an identical size, mounting positions look the same, motor looks the same, ballasts look the same. Other than the casting design (fins, mouldings, etc) it all looks the same.
This seems a bit strange that a different make of manufacturer can produce a drum if identical properties.
Could it be possible that they use a standard drum block in the two machines ?
Regards

I seriously doubt it, as you say, they are differing manufactures the former from a factory in Turkey the latter made in Poland (I think?). 😕
Are the water inlet and outlet couplings the same? Same dampers and fixings used, same motor?…I doubt they have TBH.

HI Martin, just in the workshop now, they are different. Not by a lot. If it was not for the hotpoint being a 7kg and the beko bing 5kg they would have gone straight in.
Shame really, i’ll repair the beko. It’s a brand new one that has been dropped face down whilst still packaged.
cheers

The water inlet from the powder dispenser is also different. Looks like the same motor, heater and mountings.
It was a long shot, but there we go.
The bearings are shot in the Hotpoint, other than that it is ok. I’ll keep the bits for spares for my machine.

Well, I got it fixed.
Re-bent all metalwork, fixed the crack in the circuit board, re-placed the selector switch with a new one, mended all plastic parts that had broken using epoxy resin.
Also replaced a surface mount LED that had fallen off.
Plugged it in, stood back, closed my eyes, turned it on. Checked the chassis to see if it was live ( wasn’t ). All powered up, controls worked OK. filled it with water, no leaks, emptied it, delivered it to my fiancee.
Sweet, I am not a Washing Machine Engineer but made a good job of this one and I am pleased.
Regards to anyone who helped.
