ParticipantI would like some advice. I am interested in buying the Indesit model UIAA12.
I rang the Indesit helpline and the girl there said she dealt with queires for both Indesit and Hotpoint. She said the Indesit UIAA12 is more or less the same as the Hotpoint FZFM171 (except for the fancier looking controls on the Hotpoint and the price). Is it true that they are essentially the same?
The Indesit is £249 at John Lewis and the Hotpoint is £330 at John Lewis. Assuming the price difference is not significant to me, then which one would you go for? Is there there a better alternative?
Thank you for any help!

Sadly Hotpoint was taken over by Indesit more than 10 years ago, Indesit themselves where taken over by Whirlpool in 2014.

Purely a personal view but I wouldn’t buy anything Indesit and everything sold as Hotpoint is actually Indesit, apart from some very recent tumble dryers that is. 😉

The Beko upright freezer far cheaper, quieter running, can be installed in a garage. Knocks spots off Indesit/Hotpoint rubbish.

Thanks for the advice, Martin. I really would much prefer a Beko upright freezer but they seem more expensive, not cheaper than Indesit or Hotpoint. Have I got the right model of Beko? These prices below are for John Lewis.
Indesit UIAA12 (235 litres) £249
Hotpoint FZFM171 (220 litres) £330
Beko TFFC671W (255 litres) £349February 19, 2016 at 1:35 pm #435485don

Hi
If this appliance is going to be in an unheated area like a garage or a shed the Indesit will work as it is a manual defrost appliance, The Hotpoint on the other hand is a frost free machine which has sensors which are temperature sensitive which means the appliance will not work correctly if at all.
The Beko on the other hand while it is also frost free will as Beko state work in outside temperatures down to minus 15 degrees as stated on their website.
Price wise, a direct comparison can be made using the Hotpoint and the Beko as they are both frost free.
HTH 🙂
