    Hi,

I’ve got a Bosch SGI 5602 that’s leaking from the lower front left corner, especially on hotter washes. Upon inspection the door seal is split, right in the corner, and the rubber is fairly perished.

I’m based in France, and have found a replacement part on this site for 50 euros or 30 odd quid:
    http://www.spareparts-ersatzteile.com/s … 4215p.html

I’m thinking the model number is France or EU specific, as I didn’t find a similar reference on any UK sites, but the compatible models are:

    SGI5602, SGI5605, SGI6900
    SGI6902, SGI6905, SGI6905

    SGS3002, SGS3012, SGS4602
    SGS4612, SGS5322, SGS5602
    SGS5612, SGS6602

    SGU3002, SGU4002, SGU5602
    SGU5622, SGU6302, SGU6602

    SHU4602, SHU4612, SHU5602
    SHU6902

Now, before I start tearing the machine to bits, how easy is it to replace this seal?

I’m pretty handy with mechanics, I’ve got my Torx drivers at the ready, but I’m not sure where to start. It looks like I need to remove the external front panel via the torx screws on the inside of the machine around the edges. (after disconnecting from the mains of course). Correct?

Also, is the seal glued or clipped in place?

Is there another rubber part on the hinge that should be replaced?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Phil

From further inspection, it looks like the hinges do have a plastic cover over them, but it doesn’t appear to be worn out.

I also forgot to mention that this is an integrated model that fits under my ikea kitchen units, with a front panel that matches the kitchen. I unscrewed the fron panel to find the model number. I’m guessing I need to remove the main metal front panel to get to the seal. Is this correct?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Door seal is p/no 298534. You can buy direct on http://www.bshappliancecare.com – also you can use the “Quickfinder” facility for excellent exploded diagrams.

Door inner panel has to be released, as well as the door tensioners. Be very careful, you can shave with the edges of the door.

Good luck, power off of course.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll wear gardening gloves so I don’t slice my hands up!

I can’t access the quick finder application as their site seems to be overloaded at the moment. Once I’ve got all the bits I need I’ll get cracking.

I’ll let you know how I get on!

    Cheers,

    Phil
