Ask the laadyyy :rolls: for anything to help bale out the water, she asked if i dont carry buckets etc for this kind of work that it should be one of my tools, pls pls pls dont tell me i have to have one of my own. She even suggested i go down the hardware shop to buy a bucket to work on her machine!!!! ๐ฏMarch 12, 2010 at 6:19 pm #314827wizard

Perhaps you should’ve told her it’s a special order, see you next week. Ha Ha !!

Sorry to disappoint you but I do carry various sizes of tupper ware like plastic boxes for bailing out including a very very small jar for the bottom of dishwasher sumps.
Others here will point you in the direction of suction pumps, not expensive but worth it.

I got the same once when I asked for a mop :rolls: .
Cat litter trays from Morrisons are the future as far as I’m concerned. Fit under the sump of most machines.. ๐
Don’t mix it up with the customers ones though ugh!!!!!!TC

I find
“Or would you like me to flood your kitchen?”
Quite effective.

I had some clever person show me how effective a paint tray used for rollers would be a good idea.
I kinda agree, it would be nice to have various cloths, trays etc etc.
But I don’t like the smell of mould or scummy water mixed with bacteria in my vehicle, it can stink over time.

GOOD TIP
if wm is able to tip back , put long nose locking pliers on sump hose as close to filter/pump as poss, thus allowing filter check pump change without the rest of water in drum pouring out …

A couple of deep reach sockets slipped over the ” nose ” before clamping makes a perfect seal too ๐

It is increasingly difficult these days to find a washing up bowl in customers kitchens. Did carry a range of bowls once but they always get left behind.

There is a tool made by Lucas that has two 200mm bars approx 10mm that are hinged at one end and have a thumb screw at the other to clamp them together got them about twenty years ago so donโt know if they still make them but are brill for this problem. Think when i got them they were imperial. lol

Sounds like a good idea. Never thought of that.
Would one of those “bag clips”e-bay do the job? Perhaps with a bit of modification.

TBH if a customer comes out with a statement like that it’s usually them that has the problem. Most people realise that there is no point carrying gear that is present in nearly all kitchens in the country. I’ve had a couple in the past that had a hissy when you ask for the bin when pulling crap out of filters. When you remind them that its THEIR crap and you’ll leave it for them to dispose of….most are quite apologetic. Likewise using their vacuums etc. It’s not your water, dust etc. How many people offer a torch when you look in their dark recesses.
๐ Phew!!!!!

I find the worst places are the flats given to the eastern European contract workers. They come furnished but only with the bare minimum of stuff, no luxuries like buckets or washing up bowls. There are usually a couple of saucepans but they probably already contain cooked food for that evenings meal.

i use a ‘wet’ vacuum (cost me about ยฃ45 ish from Argos)…really good time saver…if i have blocked pump, i simply only door and suck the water straight out, and then suck from the filter…no water on floor and no mess….and a lot quicker then bowls etc..
although it cost me first hand…its been a superb bit of kit…
only hassle is , it does get a pit pongy on the back of the van!!
