    Hi
Tried using my Indesit card reader today on two different Indesit machines.
when plugged in with new module and card all I could get was a solid red light.
On first machine I thought it was a problem with card but after using it to try and program second machine I began to suspect faulty card reader.
    Anyone had this problem before??

    Regards

Could yours be an early card reader by any chance? If so, it may not be compatible with 32KB smart cards for newer machines. The cards are usually labelled 8KB or 32KB.

From memory, the early card readers are only compatible with 8KB cards, whereas later card readers will read both 8KB and 32KB cards.

Re: Is my card reader faulty

    Hi
Thanks for coming back to me. I checked box for card reader and it is an 8KB plus 32KB version. Hoping it would be only 8KB which would have answered the problem. Tried Hotpoint technical this morning but could not help much as the do not use card reader. Did say that they did have some issues programming some boards and did not know if it was a firmware problem or not. Also checked on pathfinder and although part number has changed the description remains the same. On Connect site both the original and new part numbers are the same item.
    Confused now 😕

If the new card reader is both 8 & 32 then they wouldn’t necessarily need to change the part number. But you’d need to order one in order to find out. 😉
