ParticipantHi all
I bought an ISE10 washing machine (model number 1670W) in January 2011. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve had the engineer out to fix it.
We’re having a few problems with it at the moment:
The drawer leaks, so we need to always have a towel in front of the machine.
It’s very noisy when spinning, even with a light load
It’s not heating. On a 95 degree wash the door is stone cold to touch throughout the cycle.
We’re getting black marks on clothes and a delicate fabric came out of the wash with holes in. Both are in the pattern of the drum holes.
I live in South Cambridge, CB22. Could anyone advise me whether this machine is worth fixing? Roughly how much do repairs like these cost?
With two small children I can’t do without a machine for long!
Thanks in advance for any advice.

from the sound of this i would quit
buy a bosch but steer clear of the cheapest model look to pay around £350. you will get a 2 year warranty with all bosch products
if you have a bigger budget buy a miele nothing betterDave

Breaking it down logically…

Normally caused by water pressure, detergent/conditioner or overloading unless the drawer has been physically damaged in some manner.

Could be anything but can be simply the balancing springs that only cost a few pounds, usually as a result of consistent overloading as it strains them and eventually they will give out.

You will never feel the door “hot” and, if the machine were not heating, it would halt with an error code. It would not complete the cycle if this were the case.

This is, I am afraid, a classic symptom of overloading.
There is nothing whatsoever in the machine that can cause marking, just the same as any other which means that it can only be caused by either something that has been put into the machine or from laundry being pushed against the door seal. Being pushed against the seal would also explain small tears.
That model was last sold about the tail end of 2010 so, barring some kind of physical damage to the drum, there’s no way I can think that the drum could have suddenly gone faulty to give this sort of symptom and, if it were, every item of laundry would be damaged.
Delicates items can also be damaged in that way if the wrong wash program is used, very common to happen as the level of agitation on normal programs is not suitable for delicate items.
Hope that helps.

It appears the advice is its all your fault Jane!
I doubt it.

I will bow to your superior knowledge and experience in that case and allow you to advise further as to both the causes and solutions.

I’ve no particular knowledge to impart unfortunately.
Buy well, buy once is what I’ve lived by.
It’s how to buy well, there’s the issue nowadays….
I have followed ISE though from beginning to end.
I’ve said before, most of the failings of the machines and the business appear to be the fault of third parties. This, at least, seems well documented. Unlike the missing insurance backed warranty, which isn’t.

ajsdoc, give it up as the situation cannot and will not change. I do hope that’s clear enough for you so that there is no misunderstanding on your part.
If you wish to interject on every thread possible at least have some sort of helpful input as, otherwise, you just come across as someone with an axe to grind and using every conceivable opening by which to voice your “opinion”, such as it is.
Should you choose to persist in your vendetta then either I or one of the moderators will remove your posts with no further warning as they serve no purpose other than to cause harm or to troll which is, so far as I am concerned, what you are doing.
You clearly need/want/desire someone to blame/chastise or whatever the hell it is your after and, I’m afraid, polluting threads all over the place with your rhetoric is unacceptable and, such as this thread that I am about to lock due to your persistence, prevents others from gaining assistance.
So, well done you.
