Bought my Servis 3510S washing machine just over five years ago, costing around £250 and it has been a great machine, considering that I have been using it 2 – 3 times a day! However, a few months ago it started to make a very loud rattling noise when on final spin.
Last week, the drum wouldn’t spin. An engineer examined it yesterday and said that it would need a new drum support and bearings, costing £90.
Looking through the forums, no-one seems to like Servis very much! Was just wondering what your opinions are regarding having it fixed or going for a brand new Servis M9004 washer Dryer (seems only Comet sell these, for some reason) or a Zanussi ZWD1270. I think I know what the answer will be…..
£90 for spider and bearing strikes me as a very reasonable price indeed – if this is the first problem you have had in 5 years, it’s worth considering getting it repaired.
If you’re going to replace the appliance I’d go for the Zanussi, but be warned that the dryer section on any combination appliance is vey inefficient and slow – far better to go with a separate dryer, even if only a compact one.
