ParticipantMy Hoover Whisper Logic has been playing up and the drum doesn’t go round at all at the moment. Toyed with the idea of getting someone to quote for fixing it or just writing it off and buying a new one. Its about 4 years old and up to now I’ve been really pleased with it, not had any problems. Just don’t want to get ripped off having it fixed then still having to replace it 6 months down the line.
Been checking out the new ones and came across this on the Comet website and wondered if anyone knows how good (or bad) it is. Its got a big drum size which appeals to me, but I’ve never heard of Samsung making washing machines.
If anyone can suggest any other make to either go for or avoid I’d be very grateful for any advice. Don’t really want to spend more than £300, would like a fast spin speed and a large capacity drum. Have had Hotpoint in the past and not very impressed.

I repair Samsung washing machines the only problem I have is the pumps have a prob they loose the impelor. Other wise I think they are not that bad. If you have a few more pound in the kitty try an ISE.

Thanks for the advice.
Penguin45 do you think that getting the carbon brushes replaced will fix the problem I’ve got, and if so, how much can I expect to pay for it to be done?

It probably is the carbons that need fixing in your motor.
£50ish? Depending on where you’re located?
Try repairs@ :call:
Ps. I wouldn’t recommend the Samsung!

I’m located west of manchester and south of bolton. Does where I’m located affect the cost? and does the £50ish include labour and parts?
Thanks for all the help and advice to everyone.

And that is exactly what I can see. you may need to alter your time zone in your profile.
Should be GMT+ 1 hour ATM.
Simply click the link in my sig to find one of our members in your area. They will be more than happy to discuss call out charges and no doubt give you a price for brush replacement, should that be the eventual diagnosis.

ParticipantThanks iadom for the advice about the time zone, for some reason it was set at GMT+10 hours.
I have had a look at the members in my area but dont recognise any of them nor can I find any of the company names locally.

What is your postcode, even if we have no one listed, we do know one or two reputable firms in most areas.
I have not advertised in any shape or form for over 25 years so it does not always follow that you will find ‘company names’ locally.
All members who sign up to our Repairs@ section have to agree to a certain code of practice, if they don’t live up to it I’m sure you would let us know. 😉

My postcode is M29. My husband is going to check the carbon brushes tomorrow to check if that is the problem, although having already checked the machine he didn’t notice anything obviously wrong (although he isn’t a washing machine engineer he is very good at fixing most things). If the brushes seem OK is there anything else you can suggest could be causing the problem.
Thanks again for all the advice.

Penguin45.
THANK YOU FOR THIS ADVICE, MY HUSBAND HAS TODAY REPLACED THE CARBON BRUSHES AT A COST OF £13.95 AND MY WASHER IS NOW WORKING PERFECTLY AGAIN.
HOPEFULLY I CAN GET ANOTHER FEW YEARS OUT OF IT NOW, ESPECIALLY AS MY FREEZER, FRIDGE AND TUMBLE DRYER ARE ALL ON THE BLINK, ONE LESS APPLIANCE TO REPLACE NOW.
THANKS AGAIN
