Is there a Miele “internal” filter?

A customer claims she has had to pay Miele engineers £100 to remove a coin from an “internal” filter and she thinks the same thing’s happened again. The only internal filter I’ve come across is the stupid Hotpoint one. Do Miele have one (in the sump hose maybe?)

I can’t see any logic behind providing customers with the best filter available – nice and high so you can fit a bowl under it – but putting another one in that they can’t get to.

You have obviously never done a recent Whirlpool then. Some of those have a large plastic ‘cage’ in the sump hose.

What are they for if they already have a filter at the front? And if they don’t have a filter at the front it’s just a rip off so customers can’t clear common obstructions and fluff themselves (like with Hotpoint)

I think she may not have told you the correct story, there isn’t an internal filter, there is however a “ball valve” in the sump to prevent loss of soap into sump, this may have been fouled or blocked.
But the MAJOR problem that arises with the Miele washing machine (you didn’t state) is that the customers don’t follow instructions. If the filter is not emptied correctly it will let water into the base of the machine, this activates the float switch and fault “check outlet” comes up.
There is a hose inside the filter door, to empty water out (which is seldom used), the vessel also has to be shallow so as not allow water to run back into machine (via filter door).

This is probably why she incurs a £100 call-out charge?

Filters are a bit of a Miele weak point anyway, have had plenty of instances where the filter cap only has been taken off, washed and put back.
Maybe it was just a blocked air bell, you know how customers get the details wrong.
