Done a few jobs in the past for a letting agents based locally who were always good payers but they got taken over by a firm in Grantham a couple of years ago.
Asked for a job sheet to be emailed over as I’ve not done any work for the new owners and this was at the bottom of the sheet.

‘******* lettings do not accept responsibility for any non payment by their landlords. Any dispute will be between the Contractor and the Landlord and not *****lettings’

As we only get the landlords name on the worksheet when the agency give us a job it seems a little iffy 😕

I think the contract is between you and whoever gives you the job, if that be the letting agent then thats who it is.
Are you member of FSB? if so it may be worth giving them a buzz

This seems very strange, I have done lots of jobs for different letting agents and when I have not received payment I have always contacted the agents not the landlords. I have never know the landlord details.

I would personally do the job but only if I could have the landlords full details before and I could contact them directly BEFORE to discuss payment.

    Re: Is this kosher??

If its a managed letting then i would of thought its down to the letting agent to provide payment as the middleman/woman for the client that is the landlord.
Do the letting agents take a percentage?

Also if the letting agent contracts you to repair then is that not a verbal agreement? If the landlord has signed to say hes liable for any costs then fair enough, or is this a one off arrangement with the letting agents you contract for?

Personally unless i was getting most of my work from that source i wouldn’t work to these guidlines if thats standard procedure.
