Went to a job yesterday,Bosch double oven.

Fault reported, fuse blew now no heat.Nice easy element job I think.Anyway gets there and clock is dead,no power to m/c.Cooker s/w is facing me so take cover off and find black splash marks all over back box.On inspection find m/c has been fitted with 1mm flex :eeek: and customer regulary uses both ovens!!!.

Course insulation has melted and live and neutral have shorted out.Replaced cable for customer. While doing paperwork and explaining that this is not covered byguarantee, notice induction hob is fitted in worktop. So check installation to see if air gap has been cut.Course it hasn’t so advise customer this must be done.

Lift hob out from worktop to find E-Nr,what do I see a 6.1kW hob fitted to a 13 amp plug top :eeek:

Best part is when give customer advice to contact fitter to sort it he turns round and says my son fitted them HE’S AN ELECTRICIAN!!!! :rtm:

I,ve always found that most school teachers have been electrians, engineers & bar room lawers.

But as I always say ” Those who can do and those who can,t teach”
