ive got an indesit is70c condenser dryer and it will run for approx 1 minute before it trips the thermostat and the electric.the dryer will run pefect while theres no heat i must have reset the thermostat now 20 times 😡 ive replaced the capacitor with new one.but this as made no difference.could it be the thermostat at fault? the cooling fan under the heater elements is ok any ideas would be very gratefully appreciated as i am now mind boggled as to what it could be

hi helo_75 thanks for the advice ive looked at the heater elements and they look ok and before it trips out the backplate does get hot its as if it is overheating.i dont mind buying an heater for it as long as it cures the fault.another thing to mention is where the thermostats are was wet is this because the thermostat as tripped or is this a fault?once again thanks for your help

Whilst it may “look” physically OK doesn’t by any means sonfirm it is.
Presume the dryer will run without tripping the electrics when heater is not engaged.If it’s when it is reset that it trips you need a heater.
The inner insulation in the heater has probably broken down in one area of it causing a hot spot which willprobabl overheat causing the safety stat to cut out at the same time as increasing the voltage leaking to earth which will take out your RCD.
While your at it clean the fan baldes and the condenser likely they are choked with old fluff etc.

hi ive just spoke with a friend of mine and he as just explained everything as you have well done and thanks for your help i’m now not worried about buying a new heater and thinking it would make no difference.i love this forum without it i would be spending a fortune to make things work.

sorry if my previous post was a little abrupt

i apologise, i was in a rush…

however, i must point out that the fact that the heater was indeed wet, and that needs investigating

theres probably a blockage in th e cahannel from the condenser chamber to the pump, leading to water overspilling onto the fan and wetting the heater

the drain hole is situated in the pump chamber, and is on the bottom left of the the housing, under the pump… its worth pushing something through it to make sure its clear

no problem i’m just glad of your help i have checked the drain hole and thats ok i think whats causing it to get wet is the steam off the clothes as it gets hot for the first minute then trips out

As cold, wet washing goes into your dryer then there would be no steam for quite some time.
As helo_75 says, its caused by water being thrown onto the element by the fan.
You may need to remove the condensor, lie down on the floor and reach right back into the condensor chamber, feel around in the channel at the back and pull out any fluff or gunge you find in there as well as poking a large plastic bag tie or similar through the drain hole from the water chamber at the back.

The later elements have some slight modifications to help with this problem.

You also need to keep the condensor clean, a real pain to do on these models but it should be done on a very regular basis, if you have one a blast through with a pressure washer or hosepipe in the back garden is the best way to clean them.
