Well Ive had a very pleasant phone call from a customer to say how pleased they are with their ISE10 washing machine.
This was the very same customer who a week or so previous was demanding a refund citing the machine was ‘not fit for purpose’ :rolls:

The Machine had a new pump due to being noisy with vibration problems, but also had an on-going problem with F3 errors which even after the new pump, were still there (if not even worse than before!).

All the usual checks were made (coin in hose – eco ball sticking etc…) and the customer was advised to change detergent and reduce quantity.

The result was poor was results due to very little detergent and still F3 errors, and a very unhappy customer. 👿

Pondering on my next move I just happened to find an old Asko service bulletin (No. 171) identifying the same symptoms that this machine was exhibiting, which pointed to the filter insert not quite reaching the back of the filter housing, which in turn was making water recirculate inside the pump impeller chamber instead of going up the outlet hose.

There would also not be enough flow to draw the eco ball down from its blocking position.

As stated in the bulletin the cure for the problem is to fit an ‘o’ ring into the filter end slot . This extends the pump insert by 0.5mm and in fact closes the gap.

The result has been dramatic, and I have fitted these rings on 3 machines now with equally dramatic results!.

Anyway my customer has been able to return to her original detergent and is now able to use higher quantities without any problems and her rinsing/spinning results are great.

I am now fitting these rings on all new installations and any service calls I make.

Hope this helps some of you with similar problems.

    For reference:

Asko o ring part number: 8901773
I use item number BS216N70 from polymax.co.uk (about 10p each)

    Excellent info.

That bulletin is from 2000 so why would the ISE10 be fitted without the ‘o’ ring?

Remedy 2 is to change the pump complete so you would imagine this means all new pumps / machines after 2000 should have the ‘o’ ring fitted?

    Well done!

The later pumps were supposed to seal properly without needing the o ring mod, but it would seem that a lot of them would still benefit from it.
The problem i had was a machine that had a brand new pump fitted!

Just had a look at the polymax site but cannot find BS216 N70 ‘o’ rings?

I don’t suppose you have a spare one you could post me until I manage to get hold of some.

So how did you resolve your F03 problem?

I have found that a filter seal from a BEKO pump will fit into the rear end of the ASKO/ISE pump filter, not sure if that will have the same effect. 😕

Just a thought on this one, as Mark has probably seen more ASKO machines than most of us and yet not encountered this problem I wonder what the water is like in each of your areas?

The water is very soft round here and I’m guessing it could by well on the hard side in Mark’s area.

    Jim.

PS. I see you are in Burton upon Trent Martin, nowt wrong with the water round there eh.
