ParticipantHi everyone. Hope you’re all well.
Not been doing much on washers of late but was asked to look at a 4 year old ISE10 which had an intermittent fault.
Apparently the customer diagnosed it as a door problem; the washer thinking the door was open when it wasn’t. She got a new lock from shop@ on being advised by the vendor over the phone (no longer able to call out) that it was probably that or, “the board.” It’s a B&B so I presume she was not covered for 10 years but I don’t think she was aware of that.
At some point, the machine began to work again and she got at least 6 washes out of it on the trot. Then it went back to flashing all but the lowest segment of the display around the selector (approx 90 deg out of 360 not lit.)
I went to have a look this afternoon and found water had been dripping down from the worktop and getting in at the front of the lid. It has rusted a lot around the dispenser area and I thought it might have got into the lock. I managed to get the lock out by removing the front sections. I examined the lock and I am quite sure it should be working. I had a look at both fascia and main boards and found nothing apart from a little tarnishing around the water valve contacts on the fascia board which I cleaned off. The bottom plate of the machine is pretty rusty and had a few odds and sods (socks, pens, buttons etc.) which must have fallen down the gap between drop door and main cabinet. Is this normal?
Put everything back together but fault remains.
I tried switching on whilst holding st/pse and the display came up normal and I can select any programme but m/c will not start. Have I got into a test prog by doing that? Can’t seem to get anything to happen with any other buttons.
I forgot to take the full model no. but she says it’s an Asko.June 22, 2015 at 8:45 pm #428357admin

Got to be a 1406 or a 1606 with a drop down door and lights in a circle. We/I can send you the manual Mike, it might come in handy.
Jim.

Great stuff! Thanks Jim. Looks like a WM25.3 / W6232 from the control set.
Edit: Except I’ve got delay start where that one has super rinse.
Got some midnight oil.

Just to round this off, I never got to go back to it as she rang up next day and said, having seen all the heavy rust inside, she’d ordered a 10Kg Zanussi. “Which” gave it a high rating apparently. :rolls:
Oh well, it was six years she’d had out of the ISE and at the heavy rate she’d been using it (summertime 6 washes a day) she didn’t do all that bad.
In another 3 months she’s retiring from the B&B so the Zanussi might just last out that long. -
